A future Ki-Gor revival

The legendary Ki-Gor franchise currently survives mostly in reprints and is in a desperate need of an onscreen adaptation. The stories are becoming public domain within the next few decades for both Australia and the European Union, plus Nigeria and Japan. Ki-Gor is himself trademarked by his current rights holder.  The underground OEL manga soon to be adapted from it will have both a stronger canon and a continuity more consistent than that of previous iterations.  Given how fantasy driven the book series is, a future manga adaptation will have its own different continuity for legal reasons. Ki-Gor himself is an errand in this variant, while Carmen becomes a spy. Unlike in the novels, which have a surprisingly bad case of webcomic time, they simply leave the East African subcontinent for the helluva Catholic republic of Ireland, which still tries to move on from colonial British rule to this day.  Do bear in mind that fellow jungle themed characters from Fiction House ar...

Tarzan Design Chart: The Manning Clade

A mild compromise between canonicity, attractiveness and pop cultural impact is why the Manning clade of Tarzan design portfolios has more talent than is usual in terms of styles. Then again, Russ Manning himself was a talent on par with and equal to the two lifelong friends Joe Kubert and Neal Adams.   Russ Manning’s smoothly flowing Tarzan design portfolio was influenced mostly by fellow artists Chiaki Fuji, Hideko Mizuno, Shotaro Ishinomori, John Celardo, Dan and Sy Barry, Jesse Marsh, Roy Krenkel, Burne Hogarth, Hal Foster, Francisco V. Coching, Rex Maxon, Ruben Moreira, and (more likely) James Allen St John. Bodybuilder turned actor Gordon Scott, his friend Steve Reeves, Lamont Johnson, Lex Barker, Thomas Meighan, Robert Ridgely, Horst Buchholz and Ron Ely were amongst the actors who influenced it as well. Whereas Louise Lorraine, Virginia Grey, Brenda Joyce and Goldie Hawn inspired his Jane Porter design portfolio, Manilla Martan, Chelo Alonso and Barbara Brylska were the mai...

Tarzan Design Chart: The Spiegle Clade

This a Tarzan design portfolio clade which isn’t too pretty nor too downright unattractive, but there still are some designs that, while beautiful in their own right, are too intimidatingly big for most audiences to understand.  Dan Spiegle’s Tarzan design portfolio is influenced by the artist himself, Bill Montes, Shotaro Ishinomori, Jesse Marsh, Hal Foster, Steve Ditko and Rex Maxon. Peter Cullen and Ron Ely have long impacted his Tarzan design portfolio, while Tony Goldwyn, Steve Bond and Peter Reckell inspired his Korak design portfolio.  Jeff Jones’ Tarzan design portfolio was influenced by Gray Morrow, Neal Adams, Roy Krenkel, Shotaro Ishinomori and James Allen St John. Actors Christopher Lambert, Steve Bond, Hideki Saijo and Tom Forman have all made an impact on it.  Boris Vallejo’s Tarzan design portfolio is influenced by the artist himself, Osamu Dezaki, Akio Sugino, Dan and Sy Barry, Ruben Moreira, Jesse Marsh and Rex Maxon. Claudia Cardinale, Thelma Tixou and G...
