A California Gothic Novel!?

A potential amount of works from around the world will be revised for varying demographics.

Some of my potential ideas aren’t ready for underground publishing until 2027. My future first novel Downtrodden Critters and Men is inspired by two Mexican telenovelas loosely based on Hector Malot’s masterpiece San Famille, La Recogida and its more popular 2000s reboot Maria Belen.

A former soldier turned gangster, Felipe Durango is in community service for destroying buildings, which means that younger members of his family are trying to survive growing up to not become like their parents. Then there’s Morton Cullen, a corrupt cop whose highly estranged brother (Julian ‘Cuco’ Cullen) works for the suburban mob nearby. His middle nephew Mark is at work, while Mark’s mother (Molly Burns) is unfortunately jobless and will die soon thereafter. An older nephew (Felix Cullen) is working as a schoolteacher instead.

Mark Cullen’s snotty younger brother (Jonathan Cullen) met up with his friendly rival Joe Durango at a wrestling contest, until the slimy brunette/blonde Edina Beer, who also harassed her daughter Belinda, kicked out both Joe and Jonathan, estranging both of them for the rest of their lives. To be fair for Edina, she thankfully couldn’t allow sex-assault because of what her former friend had done to her decades back. Since both Belinda and her mother would leave Morton behind, they had to earn a living, even as Belinda slowly turns into a rather snotty bully herself, partly due to being neglected by her mother and partly due to having to survive meeting more heinous people ahead.

The possibility that Edina was assaulted by her blonde master is almost certainly horrific even as she dies. Years before that, the blonde master, a female Bluebeard, also forced herself onto a vulnerable black male stripper, birthing a part-black boy. Thus, the boy and his dad had to escape her wrath and live a nomadic life until the latter turns into a young adult man. Unlike his downright unlucky dad, who was sold into prostitution by his own mother, he finally had a consensual (if dysfunctional) relationship with a middle aged brunette spinster, who unfortunately was killed by a hyper aggressive deer, just months after birthing a girl.

Eight years after, the girl, Pico Garren Carnes, survived an aftermath where her foster parents, a nouveau riche couple, were unintentionally murdered by another aggressive deer near their car. From then on, she has to survive by defending herself from snotty and hopelessly antagonistic people like Belinda Cullen and Joe Durango.

However, with the more complicated things that lead into a ‘what have I done!’ moment, Joe Durango would rather be married to Belinda (due to the Civil Rights Movement finally happening) rather than becoming too much like his parents in a bad way. Thus he finally lets her to live again with Francis Carnes, just as the revelation comes to bug both of them for the rest of her lives. Thankfully, she still has time to earn a happy ending.
